# Other Operating Systems

{% hint style="info" %}
**Important**: This guide primarily focuses on using Parallels Desktop with Windows 10 and 11.
{% endhint %}

In addition to Windows, you can run several [other kinds of operating systems](/landing/pdfm-ug/parallels-desktop-for-mac-26-users-guide/advanced-topics/working-with-virtual-machines/supported-guest-operating-systems.md) on your Mac, such as several flavors of Linux and Unix, macOS Server, and more.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note**: Creating and running macOS virtual machines on the App Store edition of Parallels Desktop requires updating to version 1.26.1 or newer. For more information on the differences between the Standard and App Store editions, follow this [link](https://kb.parallels.com/123796).

### **Finding Information On Running Other Operating Systems**

You can find much more information and details on using Parallels Desktop to run other operating systems on your Mac by checking the resources listed in [**More Resources**](/landing/pdfm-ug/parallels-desktop-for-mac-26-users-guide/more-resources.md).

Additionally, though not explicitly stated, many of the instructions presented in this guide also apply to supported operating systems other than Windows. Some important instructions relating to other operating systems can be found in the [**Advanced Topics**](/landing/pdfm-ug/parallels-desktop-for-mac-26-users-guide/advanced-topics.md) section.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.parallels.com/landing/pdfm-ug/parallels-desktop-for-mac-26-users-guide/readme/other-operating-systems.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
