# Using an RDP Connection

After adding a Standard Remote Desktop connection, click the **Navigation** button, select **RDP connections**, double-click the connection (or right-click > **Connect**) to establish a connection with the remote computer (right-click > **Connect** in classic interface).

You can have multiple active connections at the same time (both standard RDP and Parallels RAS). To switch between active connections in Parallels Client, click the **Navigation** button, and select a connection you want to switch to.

Right-click an active RDP connection to perform the following actions:

* **Connect.** This item is disabled for an active connection.
* **Disconnect**. Disconnects the selected connection.
* **Connection Properties**. Opens the Connection Properties dialog where you can configure the connection. See [**Configuring an RDP Connection**](https://docs.parallels.com/landing/ras-windows-client-guide/v19/using-parallels-client-for-windows/configuring-an-rdp-connection) for details.
* **Smart Sizing**. If enabled, smart-sizing will resize the remote desktop so it fits the available area.
* **Send Ctrl+Alt+Del**. Sends Ctrl+Alt+Del to the remote computer.
* **Create Shortcut on Desktop**. Creates a shortcut for this connection on the local desktop.
* **Delete connection**. Deletes the connection.

## **Using multiple monitors**

If you have more than one monitor attached to your local computer, you can move the remote desktop to the monitor of your choice. When you disconnect from the remote desktop and then reconnect to it later, your monitor choice is remembered, so the remote desktop is displayed on the same monitor as the last time. If the monitor is no longer available, the remote desktop will be displayed on the default monitor.
