[OPTIONAL] Preparing a Microsoft Provisioning Package

As a system administrator, you may want to enroll newly deployed Windows virtual machines into Microsoft Intune/Azure AD. In our scenario, the easiest way to do that is to use a so-called provisioning package. To do so:

  1. Using a Windows virtual machine, download and install Windows Configuration Designer from the Microsoft Store.

  2. Launch it and select the Provision desktop devices template.

  3. The Product key value at the Set up device step is optional and can be left blank.

  4. At the Set up network step, toggle the switch to off. settings.

  5. Use the Account Management step to manage the Azure AD enrollment by selecting the Enroll in Azure AD option. Toggle the Refresh AAD credentials switch to on, and add a bulk enrollment token by signing into an account with permission to enroll devices.

  6. Skip all other parameters, which can be configured later using an answer file, and finish creating the .ppkg package, making sure to remember the destination folder where you saved it.
